Chapter Eight
Ukli
Mr.Chickaboo
and Ms.Poochipoo were able to get a new born baby girl after a few years. They
named her Websy, since she was a spider. The petling couple were so happy for
their new born child, and we had a small party for Websy’s birth.
After
the party, I decided to take a stroll in the park. Going outside was one of my
hobbies, since nature is always beautiful. In the middle of the street, I saw a
colourful stick. “Aren’t sticks brown?” I asked myself, wondering what the
coloured stick was. I picked it up, and took it home, hoping that I would find
out what it does. I waved it in the air, trying everything I could to find out
what the stick does. Immediately after I waved the stick, a storm appeared in
the sky. I was starting to think that the coloured stick was a magic wand, but
I wasn’t so sure. I waved the stick again, and then I tapped it on my clothes.
I was then surprised to see that my dress turned really shiny and had lots of
gems stuck to it. I finally proved my hypothesis, and I found out that the
stick was a magic wand.
I
wanted to find out more about how to wand works, so I went to find my old
friend Tux. He was a boy who went to magic school, so I thought he would know
how to make the wand work. I found out Tux’s address and knocked on his door.
There, I saw a very tall, muscular man with blonde hair. “Hi Tux, it’s so nice
to see you again!” I greeted him, entering his apartment building. “It’s nice
to see you too, Ukli. But what did you come here for?” Tux asked in suspicion.
I told him all about the wand and how I found it, and an evil smile crept upon
his face. “So, you want me to teach you how to use the wand?” He grabbed the
wand from my hand. “Yes, but I’m only available on Saturdays. Could we have the
lesson then?” I asked, hoping he would agree. “Sure. But you’re going to have
to give me something in return later.” He smirked. I didn’t know what that
little ‘something’ was, but I agreed anyway, to learn how to use the powerful
wand.
That
Saturday, I went to Tux’s apartment to learn more about the wand. Every Saturday,
I went to Tux’s house, so James became suspicious about where I was going.
James started to feel ignored by me, because instead of spending time with the family
on Saturdays, I would go out of the house more often. He tried to ask me where
I was going, but I was already late for my class with Tux, so I just said that I
had no time to talk.
James
became more and more suspicious each Saturday. One Saturday, when I went to my
class with Tux, James followed me so that he would know where I was going. To
his disappointment, he saw me sitting beside Tux, talking and laughing, a wand
in my hand. He became mad since he thought that I was dating Tux secretly. He
decided to give me a serious talk later on, so he just went back home.
As
James arrived home, he sat down on a rocking chair and waited patiently for me
to come back home. As I entered the mansion, I heard James stand up from the
rocking chair that he was sitting on. He crossed his arms and his face turned
red with anger. “What’s wrong?” I asked, hoping he wasn’t mad at me. “Tell me,
Ukli, why were you at Tux’s house? What were you doing there? And why do you
have a wand in your hand?” He said in his most calm voice, although I could
hear a little bit of anger mixed with it. I turned pale, because James found
out about my wand surprise. I took a deep breath, and opened my mouth to start
talking. Before I even tried to talk, James interrupted me in a disappointed
voice, and told me that he didn’t want to talk about it. We went to my dad’s
house since we promised that we would come back there every Saturday and
Sunday. While James was driving, I kept very quiet, and so did he. Adeline didn’t
know what was going on, so she was just happily playing Patty Cake with the
petlings.
As we
arrived at my dad’s house, James immediately left the house, heading for his
own. I told my mom about what happened with me and James. She felt sorry for me
and herself, since she used all her effort preparing dinner just for the two of
us.
I
noticed that my dad wasn’t roaming around the house like he usually does, so I
asked my mom where he was. She said he was sick because he ate a whole tube of
frozen icing. I was surprised and went to the kitchen immediately to make
chicken soup. Once I was finished, my mom offered to bring the bowl of soup to
my dad’s room. I agreed, so she climbed up the stairs, the bowl of soup in her
hands, and knocked on the door. “Who is it? If it’s you, Mr.Chickaboo, your
chicken seeds are mine.” My dad said, with a voice that was as soft as a
whisper. “It’s me, Blabidi. I brought soup for you. Now open the door so I can
get in!” My mom replied with her usual angry tone. The door was unlocked and my
mom went inside to put the bowl of soup on my dad’s desk. “I don’t need the
soup! I’m fine!” My dad lied. “Blabidi, you’re so dumb sometimes, you know?” My
mom sighed. “That’s it!” My dad shouted like he finally found out a secret. “What’s
it?” My mom asked in suspicion. “Dumb, that’s the meaning of my name!” My dad
smiled. My mom silently chuckled and left the room for my dad to peacefully
drink his soup.
I
stayed in my dad’s house for several more weeks so that I could take care of my
dad through his sick times. I wanted to cure him with my wand, but I couldn’t,
because it was in the mansion. I hadn’t learned how to use magic without the
wand yet.
I
checked the calendar and found out the date today. It was Sunday, June 24. I
was calm for a few minutes until I realized that I skipped one lesson with Tux.
I hurriedly went to Tux’s house to make up for my missed lesson. Tux was able
to forgive me, since I explained that my dad was sick, and so he taught me the
second to the last lesson of magic.
After
my lesson, I decided to pay James a visit to say I was sorry and to explain
what he saw. I knocked on his door, and I saw Mister Albert Boss open the door.
He told me that I made James really sad and that I am never allowed to go
inside his house ever again. Since I couldn’t explain it to him personally, I
decided to do it through technology. I picked up my phone to dial his number,
but he didn’t answer it. So, I just decided to give up for now.
I went
home and climbed the stairs to my dad’s room, surprisingly seeing him all
green. I went to the drugstore as fast as I could as I saw James in the park,
sitting down alone in an ugly bench. Instead of walking to the drugstore, I
switched my direction and headed for James. I knew James could see me; I was
right in front of him. Even though he could, he never looked at me straight in
the eye. “Hi James, what are you doing here?” I tried to call his attention. “What
do you want, Ukli?” James finally looked at me, but with a mad expression. “I
want to explain everything you saw.” I said confidently. “You don’t need to. I
know it all already.” James looked back at the ground. “No, you don’t.” I said.
“Yes, I do. I know you’re dating Tux.” James replied. “I’m not.” I said, once
again. “What is it, then!?” James got irritated. “Well, I found this wand at
the street while I was strolling in the park one day. Tux was the only person I
knew who could activate the wand, so I went to him.” I finally explained. “That’s
not true!” James stood up and shouted at me. “How do you know it’s not!? I just
wanted to know how the wand works! I wanted to use it to make Adeline have a
better future and to heal my dad from his sicknesses! I never wanted to lose
you…” I felt like all the confidence that was locked up inside of me was set
free. James held my hands and looked into my teary eyes. “Is this true?” He
asked. “Yes…” I sniffed. I soon felt his hands wrap around my back; he hugged
me. We loved each other again, and we forgave each other for our fights.
“Where’s
Ukli?” My dad asked in suspicion. He was worried about me because I wasn’t back
yet. He got out of his bed and tried to walk to the drugstore, as sick as he
was. “Hello, miss, have you seen a kind and pretty girl named Ukli?” My dad
asked the clerk, Donna, but she didn’t answer. Since my dad’s sickness caused him
poor eyesight temporarily, he thought that Donna was me. Donna, on the other
hand, soon fell in love with my dad. My dad took Donna home, thinking she was
me.
Right
after Donna and my dad left the store, James and I entered it. We bought some
medicines for my dad so that he would get better. Once the medicines were
bought, we went back to my dad’s house, seeing my dad hiding from Donna behind
a couch, and my mom holding Donna back. James and I tried to help my mom and my
dad kick Donna out of our home, but Donna stayed right in front of our door.
After the
entire ruckus, I told the family about how my relationship with James was
fixed, and then we all had a Blabidiboo Family dinner. After drinking the
medicine that James and I bought, my dad got healed immediately. So, we were
able to go back to the mansion for the new week to unfold.
It was
the last day of my magic class, and I was excited to finish. I would finally be
able to use all my knowledge about magic, and make life better for my family. I
went to Tux’s house, with James knowing, and studied my last lesson in magic. “Alright
Ukli, I have taught you everything about magic, and now you have to give me
something in return.” Tux reminded me of the favour that I had to give him in
return for the magic lessons. “Anything for you, Tux!” I said confidently,
grateful for all his teachings. “I want you!” Tux smirked. “Me?” I became
confused. “You to marry!” He made a big evil smile.
Will Ukli keep her promise?
